Nike B. Whitcomb, CFRE, is the firm’s principal. In her more than three decades of experience in fundraising, she has raised nearly half a billion dollars with and for her clients. Her experience includes management of several non-profit organizations, feasibility studies and campaigns, strategic planning, development audits, board organization and development, staff training, prospect research and development of campaigns, public relations, and marketing materials. She is the lead trainer at the firm, providing seminars and special sessions on donor cultivation and solicitation to clients, as well as presentations on fundraising basics, campaign planning and overall strategies at local and national conferences. She has co-authored a book on special events fundraising and is writing a book on feasibility studies and capital campaigns. She is an alumna of Millikin University, Decatur, Illinois, where she has twice received awards for her achievements.
Natalie Birk serves in an Of Counsel capacity at Whitcomb Associates. She has raised over $4 million during her career for non-profits such as the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, Boys and Girls Club, the Old Sacramento Historic District, and the Nevada Humane Society. Her special expertise is in identification of foundation, corporate, and governmental prospects and crafting effective proposals to them. Prior to working with and for non-profits, she managed a $75 million grant program for the U.S. Small Business Administration, a Federal agency. Natalie is also accomplished in board development, specifically transforming boards from a volunteer board to a governance/fundraising board. She has lead retreats that focus on, and result in, strategic plans, development plans or master planning.
Carlo Govia is a management consultant with two decades of experience in financial & operations management, marketing, and technology. His experience includes management of government agencies, business process reengineering, financial audits, digital marketing, public relations, strategic planning, new technology implementation, change management, and business development.
He has conducted organizational restructuring workshops for management teams, led seminars on performance management and operational excellence, and presented on technology systems at national conferences. He is passionate about using his years of consulting experience with Accenture and Capgemini to empower nonprofit organizations to pursue operational excellence as an effective method to fulfill their mission.
He is an alumnus of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in Chicago.
Michael Clevenger Michael Cleavenger joined Whitcomb Associates in an Of Counsel capacity in September, 2018. Over his 20+ year career, he has raised more than $150 million for major gifts, capital and endowment campaigns. His experience includes senior management and development positions at The Chicago History Museum, Episcopal Charities and Community Services, La Rabida, Rehabiliation Institute of Chicago, and Victory Gardens Theatre.
Michael is an alumnus of Colgate University, and has additional credentials from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University, Wharton School of Business, among others.
Charles Stanford Charles Stanford has worked on several Whitcomb projects, including St. James Cathedral, Episcopal Diocese of Chicago, University of the Ozarks, National Public Housing Museum, Seminary Consortium for Urban Pastoral Education, and Bishop Anderson House among others. He previously served as Vice President of Development with the Chicago Architecture Foundation.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree from University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a Master of Theological Studies from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary.
All five of the primary consultants are active in their communities, volunteering for a wide variety of causes and interests.
